Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program

The Emergency Solutions Grants program, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides funding to support a comprehensive range of activities aimed at assisting individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The program focuses on street outreach to connect unsheltered individuals with critical services, improving and operating emergency shelters, and delivering essential services such as case management, health care, and job training. It also supports rapid re housing efforts to quickly move individuals into stable, permanent housing, as well as homelessness prevention through rental assistance and housing stabilization services. In addition, ESG funds may be used for data collection through the Homeless Management Information System and for limited administrative activities to ensure effective program oversight and coordination.
