Zoning Board of Review

Board Description

1. To grant relief from zoning restrictions; that is, to authorize the Owner of a particular piece of property to do something on it that is not permitted by-right. Generally, this is done by granting a special-use permit, a dimensional variance, or (much less frequently) a use variance.
2. To act, (sitting as the Board of Appeal) as a reviewing court to hear appeals from decisions of other agencies and officials involved in land use regulation, such as the Administrative Officer, Building Official, or Zoning Official.
